Judith Castle Marshall, 67, passed away suddenly at her daughter's residence on Jan. 25, 2014.
She was born in Gaston County on April 4, 1946 to the late James Dorus 'JD" and Cora Chalma Castle. She was a 1964 graduate of Frank L. Ashley High School and was a retired legal Secretary in Charlotte.
Judy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for reading and puzzles, and enjoyed putting puzzles together with her sister. She also had a love for animals, especially her cat Marley.
She had been a member of Flint Groves Baptist Church for many years.
Survivors include her children, Wendy Brown and her husband Stephen Brown Jr. of Gastonia; James B Marshall IV of Gastonia and Scott Marshall of Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Amanda Marshall, Lisa Shope, Stephanie Brown, Brandon Brown, Lucas Yow and wife Jessica; great-grandchildren, MaKenna Yow and Jacob Powell; brother, Jim Castle of Statesville; and a sister, Linda Denton and her husband Clyde of Gastonia; niece and nephews, Dana Murphy, Derek Denton, Blair Denton, Greg Castle and Jason Castle.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Wes Brown and the Rev. David Payne officiating.
Interment will be private.
