Robert “Bob” was born in Gastonia, NC to Margaret “Peggy” Abod Jacobs and the late Edward George Jacobs, Sr.

He graduated from Ashley High School in 1964 and attended Gaston Technical Institute. He worked in sales for Eastern Airlines until 1974. For the next 23 years, Bob owned and operated Jacobs’ Food Mart until he retired in 1997. Afterwards, he managed auto transport and delivery for McKenney Chevrolet. 

Bob was a very kind and loving man who greatly adored his family, sharing his wisdom and guidance throughout his life. He will be deeply missed and remembered for all the great things he had done for us. Our memories together will forever be held in our hearts. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sherron Sue Clemmer Jacobs; sons, Anthony Jacobs and wife Patty, Robert Jacobs, Jr and wife Robin; daughter Susan Jacobs; grandchildren, Amber Jacobs, Leeann Jacobs, Robert “Robbie” Jacobs, III, Aaliyah Bradshaw, and Abby Tilson; great grandchild, Devan Doster; brothers, Kenny Jacobs and Eddie Jacobs, Jr. and wife Kay; sister, Lorice Tolbert and husband Danny; many nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the service to follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. The committal service will be held at Gaston Memorial Park.
