Mike Nivens died that same fall of 1966 when we lost Judy. My neighbor Babs McArver from class ahead of ours died from a rare blood disorder that fall. I returned from Carolina three times for funerals for these devastating losses. I still think of them often, even dream of them. I'm glad others remember these wonderful people, Eddie Dow  too, of course.

One great thing about going to Ashley was meeting kids from other schools. My first real date was with Boyce McSwain to a dance at Grier. Mike Nivens was there with Mike Conrad. Well hello! Mike Nivens was so cool, driving his '57 Chevy, strumming his guitar over the phone, just a cool dude with soulful blue eyes. How I wish all our classmates could join us in June. Best to all of you, Martha McPhail

Yes, I remember Mike Nivens as if it were yesterday.  He was so cute, especially the dimples which made his smile that much sweeter.  I remember visiting him at his home not long before he died.  Such a great guy.  I also have to mention Terry Ghorley.  He was a mess but such a friendly classmate to everyone.  Sure will miss him.  Linda Faris Dixon
