Mary Lou McArver, 78, of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2024, following a recent, rapid decline in health. She died peacefully at home with her sister and family in New Hampshire.

Mary Lou was born on May 19, 1946, in Gastonia, the daughter of Esther (Mason) and Yonts McArver. She was educated in Gastonia and graduated from Ashley High School in 1964. She graduated from Wingate College and attended the University of South Carolina.

Her entire career was spent as a Flight Attendant with Delta Airlines. She loved the travel and adventures and especially enjoyed sports and military charters and international travel.

After her retirement from Delta she enjoyed life on the coast of Maine with her sister and family, including the family dogs, and her friends in Ocean Park. She was an avid sports fan and reader, an accomplished crossword puzzler, and enjoyed gourmet cooking classes.

Mary Lou was predeceased by her parents, Esther Mason McArver and Yonts McArver of Gastonia. She is survived by her sister Emily Elliott and brother-in-law Harris of Errol, N.H., many Mason and McArver cousins, Delta friends and colleagues, and many lifelong friends.
