Anita Louise Talley (Holland)

Anita Talley Holland obituary, 1946-2023, Charlotte, NC

Anita Talley Holland
March 10, 1946 - January 5, 2023
Charlotte, North Carolina - Anita Talley Holland, of Charlotte, NC, known to her loved ones as Anita Bug, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023. Anita was born on March 10, 1946, in Gastonia, NC to Robert Henry and Mary Louise Talley. Anita graduated from Ashley High School in Gastonia, NC, and earned her B. A. Degree in Art History with an Interior Design Major from the University of Georgia. She is survived by her beloved husband of more than fifty years, Donald William Holland, II; a son, Boyden Talley Holland and his wife Christy, a daughter Brooks Holland Haislip and her husband Russell; a grandson, Tilden Mack Haislip, and five nieces who she loved as her own children, all of whom loved her dearly.
Her greatest joys were her family and expressing her creativity. Whether it was through her personal style, a mural she painted on her child's wall, spending time among the birds and roses in her garden, or establishing herself as one of the leading ASID-certified interior designers in the area, Anita nurtured her family, friends and clients alike; with her love, empathy, imagination, and artistry. She was passionate about serving her community as a member of the Civinettes, Tri-Delta, The Junior League of Charlotte, and First Presbyterian Church.
Anita's intoxicating laugh that came from her toes and beaming smile that could light up any room will forever be a bright guiding light.
Anita's family wishes to express gratitude to everyone on 'Team Anita' including, the Wednesday night Tennis group (a.k.a the Deplorables), Dr. Chuck Edwards, and the entire staff at Memory & Movement Charlotte, Wise Transitions, The Ivey, The Post at Mint Hill, and Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region who lovingly cared for her in her final years.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Trade Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Immediately following the service, the family will greet friends at a church reception. The live stream link for the service will be posted on the funeral home website next week.
Memorials may be made to Memory & Movement Charlotte, 411 Billingsley Rd, Charlotte, NC 28211.
Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC; 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Anita was a standout in our Class of 1964. She was Chief Cheerleader, President of Civinettes, made good grades, and was a delightful person. I started first grade at Central with Anita, she was special then. She married a great friend and neighbor Don, loved her children and grandchild, ran a successful  design business, so continued her excellence throughout her life. She will be missed!

Anita and I met at Gin Howell's kindergarten (with Don) and went all through school together.  We even went to UGA with Jennifer (Kincaid) after high school graduation together. She was a special friend and I will always treasure the childhood memories on Wayside Place. May Anita's memory be a blessing for Don and her dear family....... and all of us.

Anita and Don had what I call a storybook marriage. They met as young friends in school together, married, and had a long, wonderful life.  I consider it a great privilege to have them as friends.  My love goes out to Don and their family.  Godspeed, Anita!
